The Brief

In the world of industrial operations, reducing equipment downtime remains a critical part of ensuring long-term operational success. Achieving this involves ensuring high-quality fuel is used within machinery and equipment, with better fuel quality significantly reducing wear and tear, leading to prolonged operational success.

As such, S.P. McLean Engineering was tasked with developing a custom solution for one of our key partners, with the purpose of improving and maintaining optimal fuel quality used across various equipment and machinery.

The Solution

The team at S.P. McLean Engineering developed a diesel filter skid composed of a microfilter to do the heavy lifting of particulate removal, and a filter water separator downstream to remove any carryover particulate and handle water elimination from the diesel fuel. 

A platform was incorporated into the package for ease of maintenance, and a portable base was utilised to assist with moving it from site to site, wherever it is needed most.

Outcomes

Efficient & Enhanced Fuel Filtration

With an achieved flow rate of 1,500 litres per minute, this is an ideal flow rate suitable for industrial applications – especially for equipment and machinery that require large volumes of liquid to be processed frequently. 

Our custom diesel filter skid also ensures consistent high-quality fuel usage, helping improve the longevity of equipment through a reduction in downtime.

Safe & Flexible Usage

The integrated platform provides a secure and convenient workspace for maintenance tasks. It allows technicians to access the skid’s components, such as the microfilter and filter water separator elements, with ease. This accessibility simplifies inspection and cleaning, reducing downtime and ensuring the equipment’s optimal performance. Technicians can work on the equipment without having to balance on ladders or makeshift solutions, reducing the risk of accidents and injuries.

The portable base also allows the filtration skid to be safely and efficiently moved to various sites, enabling flexibility in using the system across various site locations (and removing the need to invest further in additional microfilter & filter water separator solutions).
