Particulate and Water Removal for Diesel Fuel Applications

Diesel fuel is prone to contamination as it moves from refinery to end-use points. Common contaminants like silica, pipe scale, and water degrade fuel quality, jeopardising equipment performance. Parker’s DI Coalescers and DSO Separators ensure your fuel meets the highest standards by delivering multi-stage filtration.

The DI Coalescer removes particles and coalesces water droplets through an inside-out flow. The DSO Separator blocks water droplets with a hydrophobic barrier, ensuring only clean, dry fuel flows downstream. This process guarantees fuel that is free of harmful particulates and water—ready for reliable use.

Two-Stage Filtration for Clean, Dry Fuel

Stage 1: DI Coalescer

  • Removes particles through inside-out filtration.
  • Coalesces water droplets into larger drops that settle in the sump.

Stage 2: DSO Separator

  • Uses outside-in filtration with a hydrophobic barrier.
  • Blocks water droplets from passing downstream, ensuring only dry fuel reaches your equipment.

 

Important Considerations for Fuel Containing Surfactants

Water removal may be less effective if your fuel contains high levels of surfactants, alcohols, or unrefined biofuels. Additives and detergents can reduce Interfacial Tension (IFT), impacting coalescing efficiency and potentially disarming the coalescers.

  • Coalescing is not recommended for biodiesel blends over 5% (B5).
  • For further analysis, contact us to assess the presence of surfactants in your fuel.
